If there’s one thing I learned about myself during my health and fitness journey, it’s that I absolutely must have snacks available. These delicious peanut butter and chocolate protein balls keep me from getting “hangry,” lol. They’re great for a delicious pick-me-up after a workout, or for when I find myself in an afternoon slump.
Thankfully, I work out of my house a lot, so it’s pretty easy to grab snacks. Years ago, I would reach for some Reese’s minis, because… Reese’s! But now, to avoid hunger meltdowns, I make my own little protein balls and trail mixes and take them with me everywhere I go. Not only are they a life saver, but they also help me make better food choices (instead of reaching for junk food).
These peanut butter and chocolate protein balls are my latest creation. They’re loaded with some of my favorite things: peanut butter, coconut, flaxseed, chia seed, and, of course, chocolate. I’ve also made them with almond butter, but to me, peanut butter just goes better with the chocolate. You can use whatever protein powder you like, but for this snack, I prefer 1UP ISO Protein in the peanut butter cookie flavor. It tastes AMAZING.
I highly recommend whipping up a batch (or two) of these peanut butter and chocolate protein balls for your snack attack. They only take 5 minutes to make, and then, you have yourself a nutritious, homemade snack with healthy fats, omega-3 (thanks to chia + flax) and 5g of protein per serving! They’re the perfect go-to snack to have between your workout and next meal.
You can also make them for immediate snacking, or you can refrigerate or even freeze them for future snacking!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Balls
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/4 cup coconut palm syrup or raw honey
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup your fave protein powder peanut butter cookie flavor is best!
- 1/3 cup flaxseed meal
- 1/3 cup shredded coconut, unsweetened
- 1/2 cup organic rolled oats
- 2 Tbsp. mini dark chocolate chips
- 1 Tbsp. chia seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together peanut butter, coconut palm syrup and vanilla extract until well combined. Add in protein powder, coconut, flaxseed meal, oats, chocolate chips and chia seeds. Mix until well combined.
- Form the dough into 12 balls. (Depending on the peanut butter consistency, you may need to add a little bit more to help the dough stick.
- Eat them right away – you’ll want to, too!
