Join the Team!

Women's Tennis Life (WTL) editors are tennis players, coaches, and a former WTA tour player, with most starting out as readers like you!

We want our writers to share the tips and tricks they have learned, and we will give you plenty of help along the way. If you have an idea to share, here is how to turn it into an WTL article.

Before reaching out with your idea, please read this information. It will greatly improve your chances of being accepted.

Do you have what it takes?

Who Can Join Our Team?

You can! (Unless you are a spammer) All of our editors are either tennis players or coaches – and one is a former WTA tour player! As our process includes editorial oversight, we are a great place to publish your first piece.

Personal experience or expertise in your topic is a must for some topics, while others are up for interpretation. Writing experience is preferred, though not required. Our current editors will be more than happy to “tweak” your article while keeping your message intact. We also have access to tons of free photos if you need them.

You need an idea, something you want to share, and the ability to put together an outline or draft to show us that your idea is likely to be of interest to our readers. From that point on, we can give you any help or guidance that you may need as you write and revise your article. Experienced writers all started somewhere, we would be honored for you to start your writing career with us.

What Kind Of Articles Do We Publish?

The content we’re looking for includes (but is not limited to):

  • Ladies and/or junior girls league humor and/or opinion.
  • Tips, strategies, and tactics for tennis player development.
  • Pre and post-match or workout recipes (smoothies, smoothie bowls, protein bars, etc.)
  • Snack recipes for the ladies’ league home matches.
  • Tennis-specific fitness tips and/or workouts
  • Tennis apparel and gear, rollouts and reviews
  • Fitness apparel and gear rollouts and reviews.
  • Life hacks for busy players who are always on the go.
  • Athlete health and wellness.
  • Workouts and playlists.
  • Celeb news and gossip.
  • Tennis-related book and movie reviews.
  • And more.

You can include images, videos, gifs, and anything else that will engage your readers.

What Do We Not Publish?

We do not publish articles which are an obvious attempt at content marketing for random PR companies, and by authors who don’t play or even watch tennis. While your article may be great, pieces full of links to businesses like online betting and casinos will be rejected.

Who Are We Publishing For?

The WTL audience are female recreational tennis players who are wanting to look, feel, and play their best. They are of all ages, fitness levels, and levels of play.

What Will We Ask Of You?

  • Practical advice that comes from real experience, plus well-researched opinion is what we aim for.
  • The article must be an original piece for WTL, not something you have published elsewhere. If it’s not original, but you think it’s a perfect fit with our audience, you can re-write it so that it is original.
  • You will work with the editor assigned to you, and be open to their feedback.
  • You will establish a timeline for delivery with your editor. With the exception of  press releases or sponsored product reviews, we don’t have any deadlines. We’re just OCD and like to know when to expect articles to be ready for publish 🙂
  • You commit to our publishing policy, this is especially important to consider if you are writing about something learned while working on your own products. You can always ask your editor if anything is unclear.
  • You must follow/like us on all our socials – and we’ll do the same for you 🙂
  • You must share your articles across your social media.

What Will SLT Do For You?

Creating and publishing great content is a two-way process. While we can’t offer a cash compensation, there are still quite a few perks:

  • You’ll have your own author byline, including links to all your socials and personal website (if you have one).
  • You can monetize every article you write with your personal affiliate links (they MUST link to products or services that female tennis players would use. If not, they will be removed).
  • There will be opportunities to test and review racquets, tennis and fitness gear and apparel, tennis shoes, and other products (you get to keep them too!)
  • There will be opportunities to represent WTL at major tennis events.
  • We will promote your articles across our social media, and expect you to do the same.
