I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some Grand Slam tennis! The Australian Open officially begins tomorrow and will run from January 16 – 29, 2023. So, it’s only appropriate that we post the recipe for Buccament Bay Resort’s (now closed) famous Grand Slam cocktail, as created by Aussie tennis legend Pat Cash.
Pat Cash is a former professional tennis player and coach from Australia. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 4 in May 1988 and a career-high ATP doubles ranking of world No. 6 in August 1988. Upon winning the 1987 singles title at Wimbledon, Cash climbed into the stands to celebrate, starting a tradition that has continued ever since. And what better way to horo that tradition than sipping on a delicious Grand Slam cocktail while viewing top notch tennis of the Australian Open!
There are quite a few ingredients for this libation, but some you may already have:
- White rum
- Captain Bligh XO rum
- Malibu rum
- Orange juice
- Pineapple juice
- Grenadine syrup
- Freshly squeezed lime juice
- Simple syrup
- Angostura bitters
The Grand Slam cocktail is fruity, refreshing, and perfect for celebrating a win (or getting over a loss) on the courts! Or maybe you’re watching tennis at home with a group of friends. In that case, you can change the serving settings to make a pitcher. Give it a try and you’ll see what we mean!
